About Brian

How did I fall in love with photography?

It began with a family trip to Europe in the Summer of 1986 where my dad allowed me to use his Canon A-1 camera. I had to learn about f/stops, ISO, and shutter speed in order to capture those great photo shots that Europe has to offer.

Upon returning to the United States later that Summer, my Aunt Maria bought me a Kodak Disc Camera (which I still own today!) just in time for the start of my junior year in high school. I took pictures of everything that year as well as my senior year. I have shared those pictures all of these years later with my high school classmates and the stories we have shared behind those pictures. What a great experience!

Then I was off to Ohio State for college, and I took my Kodak Disc Camera with me. Just like high school, I took pictures of everything my freshman year, but I was wanting to get back to that manual-focus camera with interchangeable lenses experience. Enter the Columbus Camera Group. The camera store was selling a used Canon AE-1, and I bought the camera as soon as I found out about it. My dad was nice enough to give me his f/5.6 300 mm Canon lens, and I started taking pictures all over Columbus. Then the Digital Revolution began, and film became harder and harder to find to eventually it was no longer available for sale.

I tried different cameras, such as the Nikon Coolpix 110 and the GoPro Hero5 Black, but each camera could not fill the gaping hole from all of those years of using a manual-focus camera with interchangeable lenses. The straw that finally broke the camel’s back is when I visited the Great Barrier Reef in 2019. I saw a humpback whale breach, and all I had was my GoPro to capture the moment. Sadly, the humpback whale was just a speck on the photo.

NEVER AGAIN!

The pandemic hit in March 2020, I was cooped up in my apartment, and I was anxious to get out. I started keeping my eyes open on camera deals and enter Costco. The Big Box Retailer had a sale on Nikon D7500’s, the price was right, I ordered the package, and one week later my passion for photography was back.

Now that I have my Nikon D7500, I knew the camera would give me the photo shots I wanted, especially of the Arizona landscape and wildlife. Like all amazing photo shots, there is a story behind them, and I would be more than happy to share the story with you.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website, and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about any of the photos before buying. I hope you have enjoyed the photos as much as I have!
